Tuy Huong Fashion is a womens’ tailor located in downtown Danang, it has a reputation for excellent quality and highly stylish womens’ clothing. The shop is named after Miss Tuy Huong, who along with her daughter and chief designer, Nguyet Truc, run this shop and help make the customer feel at home. Tuy Huong is accustomed to dealing with foreign customers, Truc speaks a little English, both mother and daughter are fluent French speakers.
Danang does not really have much of a reputation among foreigners as place to come a get clothes tailor made, Hoi An is the place to go, why? Hoi An has the reputation and in many ways it is easier to get clothes made in Hoi An, all of the shops have someone who can speak English and lure in the potential foreign customers. It is also very fast to get clothes made in Hoi An, in some cases just a matter of hours. Finally, Hoi An is a nice quaint little place to hang out while waiting for your tailor to whip you up a new wardrobe, a good place to chill.
For all that Hoi An has got going for it, I avoid the place like the plague, I especially avoid getting anything tailor made, whether it be clothes or shoes. Quality products are very difficult to find in Hoi An, everything is designed for backpackers or tourists, people passing through who want the quick fix rather than the best quality. One of the reasons I love Danang is that it doesn’t exist for the sole purpose of catering to and making money from tourists, foreigners are an oddity that Danang locals put up with as they go about their business.
Like so many other shops in Danang, Tuy Huong Fashion, is concerned about satisfying the customer and producing good quality products in order to build a reputation amongst the locals. This place has a great reputation, by Vietnamese standards their prices are higher than average, but the quality of work is second to none. The service here is also very friendly unlike the rough pull you by the hand tactics that you may experience in Hoi An.
