This hotel is a good option if you are looking for a room under $20 a night and its isolation is sure to keep it quiet. By all reports from friends this place is quite good and comes highly recommended.

The Jimmy Hotel is within walking distance of My Khe beach and is only a 5 minute taxi ride to the centre of town. There are lots of great “on-the-street” seafood places nearby and the Zen Cafe is a quiet place to get a coffee in the morning.

The Jimmy Hotel Danang is located in an area that is yet to be developed therefore this area doesn’t have the hustle and bustle you might expect to find on the other side of the Han river. The service is friendly and the staff are helpful, lack of English speaking staff may cause a minor inconvenience.

This is an update of a previous article on the Sun River Hotel Danang. The Sun River Hotel Danang is in a prime location on Bach Dang Street, across for the Han River and within walking distance to good shops, cafes and restaurants. It is a modern looking building which is well maintained and is staffed by friendly and efficient staff with intermediate levels of English.

I have decided to update this article because of all the positive feedback I have been hearing about this place. Good value, excellent service and very clean are just some of the comments. The hotel also has a breakfast buffet 7.00am to 10am, on the 6th floor with great views and decent food for 60,000VND.

As it is across from the river it has great views, if you have a front facing room, there also good views from the onsite restaurant that provides breakfast for all guests. The rooms range in size a price, all are well decorated, modern and clean. There are some windowless rooms which are best avoided. Internet is provided in the lobby and there is usually a keen bellboy ready to help with any heavy luggage.

Expect to pay between $40 and $60 USD per night depending on the size of the room and number of guests. it is hard to beat this end of Bach Dang street for location. Mumtaz Indian Restaurant, the Thai Restaurant as well as the Bamboo2 Bar are all within walking distance, as is the Cham Museum and Han market.
It is a 6 story hotel with great sea views as it is only 400m from a quiet stretch of undeveloped and un touristy beach, which gets decent waves from October to February.

Rooms are available from as little as $25 USD a night, maybe even less with a little skillful bargaining. Rooms are very clean and modern and to me seem nicer than the standard Vietnamese hotel room that is so common in the majority of hotels here. This is a privately run place so the service tends to be better than government run hotels.

The Blue Ocean Hotel’s best feature is its location, beautiful sunrises can be seen from 5am, you may even be tempted the short walk to the beach to join the locals in some early morning exercise. Get involved in a game of beach volleyball, football or even badminton. This is a good option if you have your own transport or if you really treasure some peace and quiet.

The Green Plaza Hotel is located on the bank of the charming Han river and as such has spectacular river views both day and night. For a non-beach-front hotel this place has the best location as it is within easy walking distance to most sites in Danang, walking along the river in the early morning or early evening are two must do activities while you are in Danang.

The Green Plaza Hotel Danang has a 5 star rating and boasts 173 standard rooms, deluxe rooms and suites. The rooms are of reasonable size and well decorated, some come with balconies some with great river views, all rooms include coffee and tea making facilities as well as everything else you would expect from a 5 star hotel.

Facilities include an outdoor pool located on the 8th floor, a great place to cool off and take in the magnificent city views of Danang. There is also massage service, pool tables, a downstairs cafe, the sky bar with excellent city and river views on the 21st floor accessible via the glass lift on the river side of the hotel. The nightclub in the basement struggles to get crowds and can be a little sleazy.

The Hotel also has offices for lease, conference and meeting rooms, secretary services and modern communication facilities. The English speaking staff are very helpful and friendly, except perhaps for the staff working in the restaurant on the top floor, every time I go there something goes wrong and service isn’t very good.

This can be amongst the most expensive hotels in Danang, I think if you have to pay more $100 a night you look elsewhere. However, due to lack of occupants The Green PLaza Hotel Danang frequently offers discounts and special rates, try to bargain for the best deal and even a room upgrade, discounts of 50% are not unheard of.

It is a large hotel on the main road to the beach, just over a 1km walk to My Khe beach and about 2km to the city centre. I would think that it is a good choice for businessmen the Golden Sea Hotel has a restaurant and internet cafe.

You can get clean and decent rooms for under $50 usd per night and there are plenty of good cheap seafood restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. If you do decide to stay here for a couple of days, getting your own transport (renting a motorbike) would be a good option and you would be sure to save loads on taxi fares.

The Hoa Viet Hotel in Danang is very conveniently located just one block from the Han River and is within walking distance of some of Danang’s best restaurants, bars and cafes.

From the Hoa Viet Hotel Website:
From the hotel, you can see all the sights of Danang city, which is surrounded by mountains and sea. It takes only a few minutes to walk on Bach Dang Street at riverside of poetic Han River to admire the Champa museum. From Hoa Viet Hotel, it will take you about 7 minutes to drive to Danag International Airport, 5 minutes to Danang Beach, 20 minutes to Son Tra peninsula, and 30 minutes to Indochine Heritage.

The hotel can arrange to pick up customers anytime of the day, and its team of young, hospitable, and experienced staff will certainly make you satisfied.

Rooms start from $20 USD per night and are reasonably clean and comfortable. The receptionist on duty at the time I visited spoke reasonable English and seemed eager to please/ All in all a decent Hotel in a convenient location.

Most other river front hotels charge quite a bit for the fantastic river views and convenience of being within walking distance to great restaurants and cafes, The Phuong Trang Hotel is a budget friendly option.

As well as having decent rooms at affordable prices, from 200,000 VND to 500,000 VND, with options for up to 6 people per room, the Phuong Trang Hotel also has an on site travel agency that can arrange all onward travel, ticket booking and even hotel bookings in other cities in Vietnam. The hotel is well organised, the rooms are basic but clean and the staff speak reasonable English.

The location is the selling point of this hotel, it is within walking distance to the Han Market, Bamboo2 Bar, Cool Spot Restaurant, Thai restaurant, Mumtaz Indian Restaurant and right across the from the Han river and some wonderful photo opportunities.

Danang does not have that many budget options aimed at foreign visitors, the Phuong Trang Hotel is the exception and I would recommend it if you are looking for a great location and a great price.

HANOI (22 June 2010) — In 2005, Hoang The Anh was part of an intake of 25 trainees from the street and from disadvantaged backgrounds taken in by Hanoi ’s non-profit organisation KOTO (Know One Teach One).

Now, only five years later and still only 21 years old, he stands on the brink of a dream after winning a $20,000 scholarship to study at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu in Sydney , Australia .

Anh spent two years learning how to be a chef in KOTO’s hospitality training programme. In 2007, he celebrated his graduation and embarked on a career that eventually ushered him into the kitchens of the five-star Life Resort Da Nang.

While his cooking skills have impressed colleagues, it’s his desire to repay his good luck that really caught judges’ attention. He has donated his time freely for more than three years to help with cooking lessons at the Hoi An Orphanage. Judges also revealed how he’d assisted a local lady in setting up her own coffee shop.

Working alongside KOTO graduates in central Vietnam , he had helped them beat occasional homesickness by inspiring them to think of themselves as paving the way in creating opportunities for still more graduates. All the time he was also sending money back to assist his own family in their ongoing struggle against poverty.

In a magical evening at KOTO’s most recent graduation ceremony, Anh was named winner of the KOTO Ambassador’s Award.

As recipient, Anh will study in Sydney for two years and three months once he has mastered English to requisite levels.

“For a guy like Anh this is something he just could never have dreamed of,” said Alexander Reily, executive chef at Life Resort Da Nang. “For any young person, the chance to travel, to live and to learn overseas is an adventure. But Anh’s background meant that up to that moment he can’t have imagined it was an option open to him. As far as he was concerned he was just giving something back.”

While Tet is the most celebrated holiday in Vietnam, it creates a unique experience for our visiting guests. Furama Resort Danang will ensure an unforgettable Tet in Vietnam.

Continuing to play a sacred and meaningful role in today’s life, the Tet holiday is a valuable occasion for Vietnamese families to gather and/or reunite. This period evokes memories such as the well-known saying “A quid of betel and areca-nut starts the ball rolling” which is often included in a grandmother’s story to children. Tradition continues with offerings of pairs of square glutinous rice cakes to ancestors. People are still moved by the parallel sentences at Tet when thoughts of the past, present and future swarm in during the ending days of the year.

During the recent years, international tourists have been traveling to Vietnam during this period to discover for themselves the ever-vibrant celebration of Tet. Furama Resort Danang proudly celebrates this holiday with a wide variety of activities while playing host to both foreign guests and Vietnamese families who are looking for a more luxurious approach at this festive time.

THE GLAMOUR AND WARMTH OF TET AT FURAMA RESORT DANANG
From the entrance, guests will be welcomed with 500 red lanterns and 12 handmade animals representing the Chinese zodiac on cyclos and decorated with Tet flowers. Our beautiful “Spring Garden” will be outstanding with four significant trees, Tung (pine tree), Cuc (daisy), Truc (small bamboo) and Mai (apricot blossom) in a garden with peach blossom trees and a small river. The lobby will feel warm and welcoming, highlighted by the lanterns, parallel sentences and the bright colours of the flower garden ensuring a happy, luxurious and successful New Year for everyone.

The resort’s courtyard during the Lunar New Year will transport you to an ancient Vietnamese market. Drop by “Ms. Ly’s Tea Shop” and taste traditional food featured only during Tet holidays. Rural girls in traditional clothing of kerchiefs and green belts with their flowing black hair will walk by selling goods, a wizened old woman demonstrates how to make and pack square glutinous rice cakes, consult an old fortune-teller, watch a scholar writing parallel sentences and other calligraphy. There will be portrait painting and an exhibition of Dong Ho and Hang Trong folk paintings, a booth of handmade timber toys and handicrafts of conical hats, Non Nuoc stone carving, Hoi An lanterns and a demonstration of SQ embroidery paintings – a well-respected trademark known to domestic and foreign tourists alike.

“Ancient Vietnamese Market” at Furama Resort Danang will present specialties of central Vietnam such as Quang noodle “mì qu?ng”, pork rolled with pancake “bánh tráng cu?n th?t heo”, and Hoi An and Ha Noi noodles to highlight the Vietnamese culinary arts.
For additional entertainment there will be traditional Cham dancing, the haunting melodies of a shepherd playing the flute and other traditional musical performances to welcome in the New Year.
The festivities of the “Ancient Vietnamese Market” at the Furama Resort Danang will take place over three days from 10 to 12 February 2010 (27th, 28th and 29th days of the Lunar New Year).

FEAST AND WELCOME IN THE NEW YEAR
The Furama Resort Danang will host delicious buffet parties at our signature Café Indochine on the last and first days of the Lunar New Year.
