Rex Coffee In Danang

by InDanang on October 9, 2009

Vietnamese coffee at Rex Cafe and Food in DanangDon’t get this place confused with the Rex Cafe that used to be on Nguyen Van Linh and now goes by the name of Jet Coffee. Rex Coffee and Food at 24 Pasteur street is quite new to the Danang cafe scene and it seems to have had trouble fitting in. Unlike other cafes I have never seen this place really busy.

Rex Coffee is an open air place on two levels, its open design means that traffic noise can be a bit of a problem but thankfully Pasteur is not a very busy street. There are plenty of fans and water features which keep the place reasonably cool and it also has a small indoor seating area with air con out the back.

Prices are reasonable, 14,000 VND for cafe sua da although I am not too pleased with the coffee, not strong enough for me. Stronger, better tasting coffee can be found at LU cafe, Wonder or Googol for about the same price. 15,000 VND will buy you a banh mi op la(bread with eggs) which is normal for a cafe.

The staff and service at Rex Cafe are fine but no is English spoken, which for someone trying to improve their Vietnamese is a good thing. The menu is a fairly standard Vietnamese coffee shop menu done well, as expected Wifi connection is available and is reasonably fast.

Rex Coffee is good place to go for some solitude, time alone to get some work done or just unwind. It is a good alternative if you want an open air wifi connection instead of being stuck inside a smoky little cafe.
