Danang- 21 November, 2011 –In support of flood-affected victims in Central Vietnam, Mercure Danang staff and their local friends made a field trip and handed over relief aids to flood victims in Quang Nam province.
The flood in early November, 2011 caused 17 dies, injured 45 others and estimated monetary losses at more than 250 billion VND in Quang Nam. The relief team selected an area of Bac Tra My, one of the poorest minority district and be damaged most in Quang Nam province. All infrastructures connecting to the region including roads and railroads are completely submerged making it very difficult to bring emergency supplies to the flood victims. The team worked to bring rice, fish sauce, instant noodles, blankets, warm clothing, nearly 9 million VND and other necessary aids to 11 families whose homes are completely damaged and in need of prompt and appropriate help to survive the cold in this mountainous area.
The Mercure Danang relief team, in an effort to spread the message of humanity and calling for more donations from many other organizations to help the flood victims in Central Vietnam and hoped that they will soon overcome their difficulties and rebuild their life
