Gandida is a decent sized rooftop terrace place located directly above Dong Le restaurant on Nguyen Van Thoai street, over the double bridge and heading straight for the beach. You have to walk through Dong Le and take the stairs onto the terrace; there the scattered chairs and tables offer various seating options, both indoors in the airy interior and out, under the sky or under the covered terrace.
Gandida serves food based on Mediterranean cuisine: its aim is to use the best ingredients that Vietnam offers on the local markets and cook them in a manner more familiar with western palates. It offers pasta based dishes served in house made sauces, fresh swordfish steaks and home made chutneys to accompany. The idea of Gandida is to offer a place for both the expatriate community and interested locals to relax and drink either an espresso coffee (they also do French press) or a well chosen wine or a a beer; want something to eat with that, then they also serve Spanish tortilla for breakfast along with home made yoghurt with fresh fruit and a good selection of cheese (fresh goat, aged parmesan and whatever is available in the DaNang area).
In the evening Ganadida do both main courses and small plates of food such as grilled vegetables, bowls of humus and olives and plenty of good vibes to help you imbibe. Gandida is expanding its menu to offer more main dishes in the evening and also more snacks or tapas. It has daily specials which always change, depending on what is available at the market. It wants to be a central hub for beachside DaNang and afford a place for people to meet and hang out in some comfort and style. The beach is about 150 metres away.
Gandida is managed and run by the husband and wife team of Graham and Ida and their reliable staff.
