Furama Resort – A Traveler’s Experience

September 19, 2010

When you arrive in Da Nang, it’s not very hard to find out that Furama is the hot spot for tourist who wants to enjoy the ocean view and somewhat mix tradition foods they offered.  I travel to Da Nang about 2 times a year for the last 6-7 years for business. Furuma is a nice new addition, so being a curious person, I wanted to check it out to see what’s the hustle and bustle is about.  Below is my partial experience with Furama Resort in Da Nang, I have yet to explore all areas of it.

Although I didn’t get a chance to stay in their luxurious room, I did manage to walk through the property with a few friends and enjoy some of their services that doesn’t required membership. (So I assumed). I leave the reviews about the rooms to someone who actually spent the night there.

I went to Furama Resort with a few friends of mine after a day of swimming and eating @ Bai Rang (located up on top of the mountains) We arrived in a personal car and was immediately greeted by their hotel staffer workers, which is a nice gesture. We weren’t all dress up that nicely, since we just came back from a day of baking in the sun, but they don’t seem to mind it. Atleast we brought extra clean clothes in the car with us to change into after!

Upon arrival, one of my female friend wanted to go to their spa/massage area. So we asked the receptionist where could we locate it.

The resort is no small place, it took us quite awhile to find the spa/massage area since it was located in the lower level. We felt like a freshman who just enter college and don’t know where the dean office is at. Anyhow, we made it to the spa/massage area, it was very cool and had a nice breeze of wind going on. Music was playing softly as you entered the hallway toward the reception desk. As we look at their service menu, a few of us decided to get different kind of massage (thai, vietnamese etc) and the female would get manicure/pedicure.

There is a day membership fee if your not a guest of the resort, it’s $10 USD PER PERSON. I believe this membership allows you to do other activities that the resort offers for a whole day. There was 5 of us, so that’s $50 buck spent on membership fees. I personally wish there wasn’t a fee for such thing, since they are open to public and private. The massage prices are quite reasonable for a resort of such standards, the masseuse are very professional and know how to hit those knots on your back after a day of swimming. No complaints from them from all my friends.

What I enjoy most was their showers for the changing room. It was nice and relaxing inside the locker room. Had everything you need to make yourself look pretty after a good clean up. There’s shampoo & soap for your showering needs. The pedicure and manicure was rated OK by the ladies. Atleast it took some sands out of her nails!

After exploring the lower level of the massage/spa area, we walk around to check out the beauty of the place. It was a nice breeze walk and we ended up in their Cafe area. I forgot the name of the cafe place but they serve all kind of food there. We were quite hungry so we decided to grab a quick snack before dinnertime.  The cafe area had a nice overview of the flatline swimming pool in front of the resort. Upon the arrival, we couldn’t find anyone in the cafe, no workers, no body! All there was is just us and cheesecake on display counter. =) We decided to sit outside on the patio to overlook a few people swimming in the pool. Eventually a waitress came to our table and took our order.

We didn’t order full blown meals, just some appetizer and alcoholic beverages. Some items we ordered were pigs in the blanket (sausages wrap in dough), cheesecakes, smoothies, beer, mix alcoholic beverages, etc.

We would of order more, but…the food took forever to come out! Maybe it was a Sunday evening? Or maybe it’s a slow day? We don’t know, all we know it was just a long wait for our food to arrive and the waitress only came once…never came back to asked whether we needed anything else. Nevertheless, we spent a good amount of time on the patio to enjoy the scenic view and the cool breeze that was in the air. The bill came out to be around $150 USD, most of the bill came from our consumption of delicious mix alcoholic beverages =).

We soon left after that. Overall, its a nice place and very quiet. You could hear the sounds of annoying crickets…if any there is any to be heard! I would rate this place to be for people who are more mature and wants to spend some time away from the sounds of motorcycle horns. Is it kid friendly? I don’t know, but I can tell you there was no kids around when were there.
