Mumtaz Indian Restaurant: A relatively new restaurant which already has a good reputation for excellent food and service. There is a large range of Northern and Southern Indian dishes. Mumtaz will deliver in Danang and for a minimum order of 200,000VND will even deliver to Hoi An.

Pizza Plus / Bread of Life: This fantastic place has an excellent selection of pizzas, pastas and burgers and they also bake their own bread, special orders welcome. Most of the staff are deaf, proceeds go towards training the deaf in Danang and surrounding provinces.

Cool Spot Restaurant & Bar: More of restaurant than a bar this place has a large selection of good Western food as well as a range of Japanese dishes. It is a long running place and has a regular crowd of expats. 10am – 10pm.

Le Bambino Italian Restaurant: A long established restaurant with an expatriate chef and fantastic food. Le Bambino is a bright and cheerful place great for intimate dinners or meals with a few close friends.

Thai Orchid Restaurant: A relative newcomer to Danang’s restaurant scene, it has recently relocated to this more central location. The food is quite authentic and is prepared by Thai chefs, the owner is also a native of Thailand and very friendly and welcoming.

KFC: Western food is hard to come by in Danang and for some people KFC is a welcome addition to the few eating options in Danang. Located on the second floor it is best to take the lift which opens up right inside KFC.

Lotteria: This Korean hamburger chain has been in Danang for quite a while and seems quite popular with locals. Don’t expect fast service or fantastic food.

Restaurants: Vietnamese

Au Lac Vegetarian Restaurant: This is a great little place with a limited menu but the dishes are fantastic. Au Lac boasts cheap prices, friendly service and a very clean restaurant.

Beach Front Restaurants: There are six upmarket seafood restaurants located right on the sand with great views and fresh seafood. The prices are little high but the setting is worth it, visit at sunset for the best views.
Turn right at the end of Pham Van Dong Street.

Vietnamese Home Restaurant: This is a large mostly outdoor place with some interesting decoration. The menu is extensive and the dishes are well done, a good selection of Northern Vietnamese cuisine with very reasonable prices.

Phi Lu Chinese Restaurant: A large long established restaurant with a reputation for good food and great service. The menu is huge with a focus on Chinese and Vietnamese dishes all of which are well priced. A popular spot for a lunch time serving of Chicken Rice.

Kim Dy Chinese Restaurant: Kim Dy is a great budget friendly place that has quite a following among Danang’s expat community. It focuses on serving tasty, cheap meals with fast and friendly service.

Apsara Vietnamese Restaurant: This is an upmarket place with a great setting, music and dance performances and an extensive menu. Come here for a unique dining experience and fantastic food.

The World Restaurant: An average place with great views and a nice set up. The food is fairly standard and the customers can get quite rowdy. Definitely worth trying for the riverside location.

Minh Trang Restaurant: This breakfast place has hearty meals, no soup, and a very friendly and energetic owner. OPen from 6am to 11am, try the Bo Ne, a sizzling hot plae with steak, eggs, onions, a meatball, pate, and a beef pattie.

My Quang 1A: Danang’s best known place to come for a great bowl of Quag Nam noodles. Always busy and the prices are reasonable, 15,000 – 20,000 VND per bowl.

Shopping: Malls

Indochina Riverside Towers: Is home to residences, offices and a western style shopping mall. There are some very upmarket retail outlets alongside two stylish cafes; Highlands and Segafredo. If you are sick of bargaining for fake goods, come here for fixed prices on genuine name brands.
74 Bach Dang

Big C Supermarket: A Korean run 4 storey shopping complex with a supermarket, small retail shops, Highlands cafe as well as Lotteria and KFC restaurants. Megastar Cinema is located on the 4th floor.
255-257 Hung Vuong

Metro Cash and Carry: A huge western style megamart has a huge selection of western and local products. Here is your best bet for finding food from back home and is probably the best place in town to buy groceries. A passport or business license is required to shop here.
Cach Mang Thang Tam

Han Market: Located right in the centre of Danang this is a typical Vietnamese market with a lively fresh produce section as well areas for clothes and household items. Come in the early morning for fresh seafood on the Bach Dang side of the market and remember to bargain hard.

Shopping: Stores

Tuy Huong Fashion: Tuy Huong has a reputation for style and quality. Her 30 years of experience and her attention detail ensure the highest standards are always met. English and French are spoken here.

Doc Martens Shoes: Genuine quality shoes that you would expect from this well known brand. Big sizes can be hard to find but they will order from Ho Chi Minh City. Expect prices to be similar to what you would pay back home.

Nuoc Viet Computers: A small computer shop which sells all computer related hardware and can help with any software or virus problems. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Ham Nghi

Huong Nam Bakery: The closest thing to real western style sliced bread, not too sweet. Huong Nam also does a cakes and other baked products, the prices typical of a Vietnamese bakery.

Photo Shop: The most popular place to get photos developed or even to buy memory cards, cameras or film. They also do repairs and can speak reasonable English.

Levis Jeans: Western jeans at Western prices. A fully stocked store of this well known brand located in the Big C shopping centre.

Bars:

Bamboo2 Bar: This is Danang’s most popular expat hangout due to good music, relaxed atmosphere and great location across from the river. Prices are reasonable and decent food is served. 5pm till late.
230 Bach Dang

Eve Pub: A well established Vietnamese bar with a Western feel, it is open till very late and gets a decent crowd after midnight. 7pm till late.
66 Tran Phu

Tulip Czech Beer: A large European style beer hall serving great dark and light beer brewed on site. Also has an extensive variety of food cooked very well. A very lively atmosphere and gets quite busy most nights. 11am – 11pm.

Tam’s Pub & Surf Shop: Tam’s is a small place owned and run by Tam, one of Danang’s premier tour guides and a great host. Cheap beer and simple food. Best place to come for up to date surf reports.
43 Ho Xuan Huong

Nightclubs:

New Phuong Dong: Danang’s biggest and best(?) nightclub has a reputation for extremely loud music. This a popular spot for expats looking to let their hair down, have a dance and to people watch. Can be quite expensive and may even be offensive to some sensitive readers.
20 Dong Da

Camel Club: Very similar to the Phuong Dong but a little smaller and little seedier. Not as crowded or as loud as other clubs in town, has a friendly atmosphere.
16 Ly Thuong Kiet

Seventeen Saloon: A large saloon style place has live music every night, a dance floor, and regular special events. It is an interesting mix of bar and nightclub and is becoming quite popular among locals and foreigners.

Sport:

Football: A small group of Danang expats get together for a friendly football(soccer) match every Sunday from 6.20pm to 7.30pm. The price depends on the number of players, usually less than 30,000 VND for each player.

Surfing: From October to February the stretch of coast between Danang and Hoi An is a great place to get some waves. Despite Vietnam’s tropical climate, at this time of year a wetsuit is advisable. Boards are available to rent from Hoa’s Place and Tam’s Pub.
China Beach, Non Nuoc

Tennis: As with most Vietnamese cities Danang has a large number of cheap tennis courts available to rent. Expect to pay between 30,000 and 60,000 VND per hour. 5am – 8am and 5pm – 9pm are peak times.
Corner Bach Dang and Quang Trung

Yoga Club: This Vietnamese run Yoga and belly dancing centre gets great reviews for its atmosphere and good instructors. Flexible times and very cheap prices.
