I have been to the new O de V for 5 separate dining experiences, so I think its about time I left a review.
The layout I think is comfortable, and I enjoy how the bar isn't just hard wood stools but comfy chairs with backs, its a nice added bonus if your looking to post up there for a few drinks. I haven't been able to make the happy hour due to time conflicts so I won't comment on that.
The food: simply put I feel its the best steak in Da Nang for your buck. 240,000 for the chuck eye steak, which I've had 4 times. It comes out on a massive wooden carving dish and almost fills the whole thing. The smaller version says 300grams but I think the scales are tilted in the customers favor because it seems and feels after devouring it as if I had eaten much more than 300 grams. A come hungry leave full type of meal.
The sauces for the steaks are very good. I have had the blue cheese, bordelaise, and peppercorn. my favorite being the blue cheese. My favorite addition to the steak, is how the staff comes by with additional sauces, one combination which I have not seen here and personally do at home when I cook steak, is put balsamic vinegar and olive oil, I feel it brings out more of the flavor of the meat when I add it.
Another thing I like is how one side of the restaurant is smoking and the other half is non smoking. I admit I do smoke quite frequently, but when eating a nice steak I prefer to not be inhaling white horses until my meal is finished. This option is a nice touch.
Lastly is the staff,
I would say they are coming along nicely, improving on speed and delivery. However, not unlike most if not all places in Vietnam there can be some hiccups on behalf of the staff. However, with the addition of Shea, Ha Duong, the owner walking around, and Antoine at the bar, its easy to have these things sorted out.
